"But why I put him forward was during the July 2007 floods, we took photos and he put them on two disks to raise over Pounds 10,000.
"It's a community achievement, with the funds directed to St David's Primary School. He's done a grand job and his wife Val has supported him all the way through."
Mr Farnsworth said: "I'm humbled, honoured and genuinely surprised. All it takes is a little bit of effort to do something and care for the community.
"I'm more used http://www.wubags.com/handbags-0-9/ to being grumpy - campaigning against things that will change the character of Moreton."
Mr Farnsworth has been a critic of the A429 Fosseway site for Moreton's new hospital and the proposed 300-home developments off Todenham Road and at the Fire Service College.
He feels there is a general lack of services to support all the new development.
Among other campaigns was a petition against ugly giant boulders put on the High Street's greens, meant to keep vehicles off the grass.
But it was his drive to find funds for the town's primary school for which he has been singled out.
He said: "It grew from a screensaver on my computer of a few Moreton flood pictures. People saw them and were fascinated, and then gave us their pictures.
"Our shop assistant, Marian, wanted to raise money for the school, so Val and I put the first 180 on a CD, she helped design it and we made a poster to sell them.
"That sparked even more interest and we put 250 pictures on the second and made a total of Pounds 10,015.
"I'm quite pleased with that, but I couldn't have done it without Val and the support of people in Moreton."
Mr Farnsworth has served on Redesdale Hall management committee ed hardy clothing for 10 years and as chairman for around four, overseeing the re- flooring after the floods and a host of other improvements.
"It's an immensely important facility for the town - it's iconic and Moreton's treasure," he said. He has also been the driving force behind the town's Christmas lights, trees and switch-on ceremony for 18 years.
Mr Farnsworth received Pounds 150 with his award, which he donated to the county's air ambulance.
